Presented at the Motor Show in New York in 2013, the restyling model KIA Optima 2014 model year has a number of significant differences compared to its predecessor, who first saw the light in 2010.

We note that the changes of the exterior touched, first of all, the radiator lattice, front and rear optics. Also, depending on the configuration of the car, the front bumper can be equipped with either chrome inserts, or just a fine-grained grid.

Fog lights are integrated into the bumper in the form of a square.

Probably there is no need to say that all the optics of the car now has a LED filling.

A slightly pointed shape of the luggage compartment cover plays, in addition to its main function, the role of a peculiar spoiler.

A lot of complaints from specialists and simply Optima owners of the previous generation caused a car noise insulation: there was a steady impression of the cheap Chinese version in the cabin.

In the new version, developers have subjected to additional insulation wheeled arches and engine compartment.

In addition to those who are already familiar to us through the previous version of the car, two more security systems, two more are available in the updated Optima: the tracking system for "blind" zones, as well as an electronic assistant when traveling with a reverse stop and with parallel parking.

Inside the car, it became even more spacious in length, because the sedan wheel base increased by tangible 75 mm.

This is clearly felt by the rear passengers - the distance from his knees of even a sharp person to the back of the front seats allows you to change your position without thinking about the way that you pretend knees in the back ahead of the sitting person.

True, it is worth mentioning about one of the few minuses of the new Optima: in the name of the external beauty and the effects of the designers sacrificed the space above their heads at the rear passengers - a person with an increase of more than 187-190 mm will practically be resting in the car ceiling.

The front panel was slightly modified.

Moreover, following the best samples of German automotors (do not forget who, by the Nationality of the KIA General Designer), now the control panel is slightly rotated to the driver.

This once again emphasizes who in the new Optima main.

After the driver, the driver was changed and the shape of the steering wheel - now it is made with a sportiness sight, having in the lower part (with a smooth setting of the wheels) a truncated circle.

But here we are waiting for an unpleasant surprise: an externally impeccable steering wheel, having many buttons to control various car systems, made of frankly rigid plastic.

For domestic motorists, only two variants of power units and both gasoline are available.

This is a 2-liter engine with a capacity of 150 "horses", as well as more corresponding to the status of KIA Optima motor volume of a 2.4 liter working chamber and a capacity of 180 "horses". "Junior" from the engines can work in a pair only with a 6-speed mechanical transmission. But for the "senior", both already mentioned "mechanics" and again 6-speed automatic transmission shift box.

It is impossible not to note the tense work of the developers of the new version of the Korean sedan, aimed at increasing the economy of the car without prejudice to its dynamic characteristics. Thanks to the introduction of the ActiveECO system, the power units reduced their "appetites": the 2-liter now consumes almost 10% less than gasoline, and 2,4-liter, respectively, by 8.3%. In digital expression, it looks like this: "Junior" engine in the mixed cycle has a fuel consumption of 7.0 liters, and its "senior" fellow is about 8.0 liters of gasoline.

The dynamics of the acceleration of the car is almost identical with different versions of the engines. With a 2-liter aggregate, the sedan reaches the first "hundred" for 10, C, and with a more powerful 2,4-liter engine - smoothly for a second less. The maximum speed, regardless of the engine used and the transmission, is limited by a manufacturer of 202 km / h. What, however, is abuse to get to the point of its destination with maximum comfort and safety.

Russian buyers can choose from the four proposed versions of the Optima configuration. The most "cheap" of which will cost an average of 970 thousand rubles. But for the PREMIUM version will have to lay out a round sum equal to one million 370 thousand Russian rubles.
