Adjusting idling

Correctly adjusted idling turns on the carburetor engine are very important to ensure its maximum efficiency, and the most optimal work.

Adjusting the speed of idle, car preparation

Before proceeding to the adjustment of idle speed, you need to warm up the engine to the operating temperature, that is, it is best to do this work after a trip by car.

Failure to comply with this condition will make it impossible to accurately adjust.

You also need to make sure that the engine ignition system is adjusted correctly.

Carburetrators of different models have differences in the adjustment of idle speed, but the principle of adjustment is practically no different.

Let's consider the most common scheme for which such adjustment is carried out.

Idle adjustment screws

Adjustment is carried out, as a rule, two screws available on the carburetor: the so-called screw quality screw, when turning around which the fuel-air mixture is enriched, and when screwed down, respectively, it is impossible (in some models, everything happens on the contrary), and the screw number of the mixture is usually Just limits the closing of the throttle.

Before you start adjusting the quality screw, the mixture must be screwed up to the stop, and then unscrew the turnover.

Such a position of the screw will obviously ensure the enrichment of the mixture, and will allow you to start the motor normally.

Carburator adjustment with your own hands

The process of adjustment is as follows: The engine starts, after which the screw of the amount of the mixture is set to the throttle position, in which the motor will work steadily and without interruptions.

After that, rotating the quality screw of the mixture, you need to "catch" this position, in which the engine turnover will be maximal.

Usually for this, the screw has to turn out, since it was unnecessary before adjusting.

When adjusting, it is impossible to allow the mix quality screw to be completely screwed.

Next, the screw of the amount of the mixture, set this position of the throttle, in which the optimal speed of idling is ensured, usually 500 - 600 revolutions per minute.

Check the correctness of the adjustment of the carburetor, you can press sharply, and then dramatically release the accelerator pedal.

If the engine does not stall, and not noticeably "failures" in its work, then we can assume that the adjustment of the idle speed is correct.

If the engine stalls, or it works unstable, then you can relax a little throttle, rotating the screw of the mixture.

If necessary, if it was not possible to obtain an acceptable result, fully repeat the adjustment process.

Problems When adjusting the carburetor can be associated with a malfunction or incorrect adjustment of the throttle drive.

Make sure that when the gas pedal is released, the flap is completely closed (as far as the screw of the amount of the mixture allows), and when the gas pedal is pressed, the flap is completely open.
